President Barack Obama signed healthcare reform into law on Monday morning. The President delivered remarks about the nation’s struggle for healthcare reform since the days of the Teddy Roosevelt administration one hundred years ago, and the immediate benefits of the legislation he was about to sign.

At the signing, the President was surrounded by Vice President Joe Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Seated next to the President was Rep. John Dingell whose father was a proponent of a national healthcare system.
