Fiorina is trying to boost her conservative cred to fend off a challenge from the right.

Senator James Inhofe is a conservative Oklahoma Republican that claims climate change is “the greatest hoax ever perpetrated against the American people” and now Carly Fiorina is touting his endorsement of her campaign for U.S. Senate. Interestingly enough, according to The Hill, Fiorina “cast doubt” on the existence of global warming.

Fiorina, who faces a grassroots conservative primary challenger before she can get to Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), cast doubt on global warming, said she supported the Stupak amendment, and advocated an enforcement-first illegal immigration plan. [...]

Fiorina also announced that she has been endorsed by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), a conservative stalwart who last month chose Marco Rubio over Gov. Charlie Crist in Florida’s Senate primary.

Fiorina walked a very tight rope on climate change that amounts to, basically, “don’t always believe the science, but hey, we can make a bucket of cash off this!”

On global warming — “We should have the courage to examine the science on an ongoing basis. But frankly, I think we ought to deal with it as a real challenge today and do what we can to create opportunities for leadership for this nation in the process.”

She highlighted Inhofe’s very conservative record in her press release announcing his endorsement:

Inhofe, who was recently voted “Most Outstanding Conservative U.S. Senator” by Human Events Newspaper and the American Conservative Union, said, “Carly Fiorina is a true fiscal conservative who has made controlling our federal deficit one of her top priorities. Her common-sense approach and sharp business skills make her exactly the kind of leader we need in the U.S. Senate to help address our ballooning deficit and get our nation’s economy back on track.”

It is obvious that Fiorina fears getting Scozzafava’ed by far-right conservative Chuck DeVore, an Orange County assemblyman, that conservatives are attempting to pull against Charlie Crist in the Florida Senate primary as they did in New York’s 23rd Congressional District earlier this month.
