CA-11: Jon Del Arroz Quits Campaign
Jon Del Arroz, a Republican candidate from Danville that loaned his campaign $200,000 during the third quarter, decided to end his campaign to challenge Jerry McNerney next fall citing his young son's health after he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
"My son’s diagnosis has changed my plans," said Jon Del Arroz. "At this time in my life, the needs of my son rightfully take precedence. Samantha and I love Mateo and are going to do everything in our power to make his life fulfilling. Running a contested campaign against an incumbent and then serving in Washington so far away from home, is not an option that would be fair to my son or my wife and not one that I would even consider given the circumstances.
"I want to thank everyone who encouraged and supported me in my campaign. It was a tremendous experience."
Del Arroz's priorities of his family over personal ambition is admirable. Politics aside, there's nothing but support for his family as they fight through this battle.
