CA-Sen: DeVore Attacks Fiorina Day After Family Death Announcement

Chuck DeVore, an Orange County assemblyman seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in 2010, attacked potential GOP candidate Carly Fiorina less than 24 hours after her family released a statement that daughter Lori Ann passed away suddenly at the age of 35 on Monday.

Common courtesy normally would move people to a truce between political opponents during times of such loss but not Chuck DeVore or his campaign. They were too busy e-mailing a tasteless one-pager attack on Fiorina.

DeVore new media aide, Josh Trevino, didn’t seem to think it was such a big deal, even mocked the notion of a truce, when confronted on Twitter. Trevino wrote, “The Fiorina family has nothing but sympathies and condolences from me, and us.” Well, that, and an attack flier.

The attack included a poll showing Fiorina’s support dropping ten points since March. The graph is rather priceless as it showed DeVore picking up 1 point of support in 7 months. So in about 2 1/2 years, we should have real race on our hands. Brilliant.

(Ed. note: This blog had an anti-Fiorina post published Tuesday, before news was made public. It was since pulled down in respect of the family’s loss.)

Updated It is ironic that DeVore’s disrespectful attack on Fiorina soon after a family loss was promoted in the same e-mail that attacked Barbara Boxer as “disrespectful.”
