CA-Sen: DeVore’s “Condescending, Disrespectful” Web Video
Matt Ortega | Uncategorized16 Oct 2009
Chuck DeVore, a potential Republican opponent to Barbara Boxer next year, launched a new web video that smacks of a thinly-veiled sexist portrayal of the Democratic incumbent as “a bitch” in the vein conservatives have done for the last couple of decades to Hillary Clinton.
Read the description of the video the DeVore campaign launched:
Barbara Boxer: condescending, disrespectful… or just mean?
Senator Barbara Boxer is at it again. Whenever she disagrees with someone, her first instinct is to show them disrespect. Whether Boxer’s dealing with former Secretary of State Condi Rice, Gen. Petraeus, BG Walsh, Harry Alford of the National Black Chamber of Commerce, or Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee, you can be sure that her condescending manner will show through — or is she just mean? Another video brought to you by the DeVore for California campaign: http://www.ChuckDeVore.com.
This strikes me as eerily similar to what Republicans tried doing to Sonia Sotomayor, then a Supreme Court nominee, to question her “temperament.”
The irony in this, of course, is that the web video, devoid of any policy differences, is in itself “condescending, disrespectful” and “just mean.”
Updated An astute reader points out that this may also be adding to the conservative attack on Boxer that she’s racist, which is as laughable as it is repugnant.
